I became Mrs C back in 2019 marrying my wonderful hubby and what a beautiful day that was! We started as friends like a lot of love stories do, and when the time was right I ended up as a plus one at a 30th party in the jewellery quarter in Brum, and the rest, as they say, is history!
We got married at the fabulous Heaton House Farm nestled on the boarders of the Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire. We stumbled upon it during a little staycation when we weren't actually looking for a venue and just fell in love. It combined all the rustic joy of a working farm with the luxury elements that we wanted. We had a registrar service and if we only knew what we knew know about celebrant ceremonies we would have chosen very differently!
Three years later and I became a proud mommy to my little boy who we welcomed into the world back in April 2022. Life with a toddler is...interesting! Ah I'm not being a pessimist here, being a mom is one of my biggest joys and he is definitely one of my best creations.
I’m also a long standing cat mom and massive animal enthusiast. Bella is our rescue cat and spends more time in our bedroom asleep than we do! She is our cosy little fur baby and we wouldn't have it any other way.
I have a strong affinity for my roots being from the Black Country and you’ll definitely hear it in my accent but don't let that put you off!
I promise I won’t bring in any colloquialisms to confuse your guests (unless you want me to!)
I like to think I’m a culture vulture who loves exploring the world (mostly for the amazing food you find on the way) but I’m equally a home bird and love my creature comforts and being around my family and friends.
I love vintage anything, especially those beautiful one off pieces that you find for a quid in your local charity shop. I’m a big advocate of upcycling and recycling, so you’ll see me having a good rummage in our local chaz shops for those bargs
I’m a massive Ru Paul’s Drag race fan, love a proper brew, pizza nights and a walk around a National Trust.
All this said I really do appreciate the small things, like being able to enjoy a cuppa whilst it’s still hot, the dishwasher being unloaded for me and watching a film from start to finish without my little one waking or me falling asleep.
A simple gal from the Black Country with a passion for celebrating love.
I can honestly say that I’ve done a bit of everything, from working in a lab, to teaching secondary school science and to running my own cake business (which I still do - always here for the cake!)
My first introduction to celebrants was actually at my nan’s funeral, and I was so impressed with the personal and heartfelt send off they gave for her. I had always thought of ceremonies as having to be 'official' and 'proper' but this was such a beautiful tribute to her as a person and the life she led. This had me intrigued!
I’m no stranger to public speaking and have spoken at the Royal Society of medicine amongst other events and with the arrival of my little boy, I decided to plan and lead his Naming ceremony - which I LOVED!!!
For years since my family and friends have kept nudging me towards becoming a celebrant, and with my toes already firmly dipped in the wedding industry with wedding cakes, I thought you know what, why not?! And here we are - me and my 'Electric Joy' ceremonies coming to the UK and beyond!
